Deus Vult

I mentioned a project I was involved in in the last couple of posts, and I figured I should actually talk about what it is. About a month ago on a forum I usually hang around on I read about a few guys that we’re in the process of throwing together an indie game, and needed a few more people to help out.

So I hit them up with an e-mail, and got to join the project as an animator. Now being an animation student, at this point I’d join just about any project in order to get some production experience, but I really think Deus Vult is going to be a great game.

The game it self is set during the time of the crusades, and the gameplay is going to be a mix between the turn based campaign from the Total War-series and the first person combat from Mount & Blade. Basically you should be able to take controll of any soldier on the battlefield.

The major event for the game as of today is a motion-capture session that will happen in April, and as soon as that is done the progress of the game should probably start moving along more quickly, with eventual beta versions of the game being released.

My personal involvement in the game will be helping out with cleaning up motion-capture data, and the few things that will need to be hand animated. Probably also helping out in general with ideas etc.

Personally I’m very excited about the game, I love the idea and I am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out in the end. I’ll do my best to keep this blog updated with the progress of the game development, but you should also check out the development forum over at
